Um, this space is bigger on my new theme? Which make me feel oddly pressured to add more than my standard "Ridiculous is my default setting..."

So...

HI.

I'm Lielabell. I write a lot. And have FEELS. And like silly T.V. shows. And have red hair. Not sure what else to say. Yeah.

That's me.

And it was *amazing*

Queer and other insurgents have long striven, often dangerously or scandalously, to cultivate what good folks used to call criminal intimacies. We have developed relations and narratives that are only recognized as intimate in queer culture: girlfriends, gal pals, fuckbuddies, tricks. Queer culture has learned not only how to sexualize these and other relations, but also to use them as a context for witnessing intense and personal affect while elaborating a public world of belonging and transformation.

Making a queer world has required the development of kinds of intimacy that bear no necessary relation to domestic space, to kinship, to the couple form, to property, or to the nation. These intimacies do bear a necessary relation to a counterpublic — an indefinitely accessible world conscious of its subordinate relation. They are typical both of the inventiveness of queer world making and of the queer world’s fragility.

People have written a lot of touchy-feely pieces on this subject but I thought I’d get right to the heart of the matter

Someday I will have the time and interest and brain at the same time to write a very long post on “yes I love Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg as characters too but actually they’re both frequently emotionally abusive bullies, not paradigms of compassionate perfection, and actually the fact that they’re hugely imperfect, interfering, bullying human beings is important.”
